Moving Meditation
All levels of Practice range from Beginner Moving Meditation through Advanced. Moving Meditation Practices are all primarily Chinese based. Qigong, Tai Chi and Baguazhang form the Foundation of these movement practices. When you come to a group class, this is what we will be doing.
These are the Forms used to condition and strengthen the Body. They are Moving Meditation Forms that are Hundreds of years old. They have proven their ability to improve balance, engage the Relaxation Response to release Dopamine and peptide hormones like Oxytocin which help to rinse adrenaline and cortisol out of the tissues. Many of these forms such as the Ji Ben Gong Movements are normally only available to people who take Internal Martial Arts, however these Moving Meditation Forms are very useful for the general public in rehabilitation and making the connective tissues of the body younger.
Group classes are available each week at the same time. Private classes may be booked either online or by calling the office at 518.698.2400, or contacting Steve at steven@albanycomplementaryhealth.com.

The studio focuses on Moving Meditation Forms that are sophisticated and proven to give you the results you are looking for. These are good Forms to learn after surgeries when your Physical Therapy has ended. They will continue to strengthen your body and make it stronger and more flexible than before. All Movements are gentle enough for all ages and conditions, and at a more advanced level provide the kind of Training that is typically not available at the gym but very much complementary to what you are doing with your gym workouts.
Movements are Body Mind Spirit Practices and are included in all Wellness Coaching Programs. In addition to Physical conditioning, these practice help to calm the Mind and Emotions, while bringing Energy into the body. Most exercise expends Energy, depleting our Lifeforce. The Meditation element in these Movements engage our Spiritual Nature.

I haven’t even taken the lesson yet, but am struck by his professionalism in reaching out to me by phone to discuss my knowledge and expectations of Qigong. You know the feeling you get when you talk to someone about a subject and you have an inclination about their depth of knowledge of it? No doubt, Steve knows exactly what he is talking about and with his extensive experience and personality, is a teacher that really wants to explain things in a way you really comprehend.
Steve contacted me before my first lesson to discuss what I expected from the session. I had only scheduled one lesson and wanted to try it out for myself and because I am enrolled in a graduate study program; I needed to try an alternative healing session so I could complete an assignment. I loved that Steve explained the movements and how they affected the internal body, mind, and spirit. He is a wealth of information and I plan on continuing to learn from him.

Steve really tailored the class to my needs. He throws in wit, humor and insight in his lessons. The fitness regimen he taught me is something that I can do everyday with relatively modest effort and time commitment. I am already seeing the benefits of practicing what he has taught me. I highly recommend his classes.

One of the first practices Steve taught me was the Six Healing Sounds. I had been dealing with severe sleep apnea, and while Cpap therapy had been helpful, restful sleep was still a challenge for me. I made a commitment to the Healing Sounds as an evening practice before bedtime. Reviewing the data from the Cpap’s sim card with my sleep specialist I saw a 50% reduction in apnea incidents within two weeks of beginning this practice!

“I’ve studied Qigong with Steve for almost two years now and under his insightful guidance; as a result I’ve developed an awareness of how the movement of Chi affects my wellbeing on many levels. Steve possesses a deep knowledge of the physical aspects of Qigong and teaches the movements in a clear and precise manner. What is more, Steve has an intuitive grasp of the deeper meaning of Chi and its’ relation to all that is and conveys that to his students on a deeper level.”

Steve Cosimano is a master teacher. I have been drawn to his classes by his knowledge, presence, approachability and light-hearted air. He not only teaches Qigong but lives by its principles, reinforcing to his students the value and purpose of each of the movements we are doing. In addition to the class instruction, he provides take-home material so that you can expand your practice. Qigong provides an energetic calm and healing that is preventative and balancing, a true must-have in daily living. Steve is a must-have guide, and a decent, good man whose guidance inspires. Studying with him has unequivocally enhanced my life. I have recommended his classes to many and continue to do so!
